Enjoying breakfastWifey and I have been enjoying a new breakfast staple this summer. She picked up an interesting cereal at the grocery store that includes chia seeds, buckwheat groats, and hemp hearts! Not overly sweet, not weirdly chewy (I’m looking at you, chia), and not too time consuming.

After realizing how much the bag cost, we decided to try making our own concoction from the bulk bins (and/or Amazon).

Our current recipe (amounts are not as important as the ratios):

1 cup chia

1 cup groats

1 cup hemp hearts

1 cup raisins

Sometimes we add cinnamon, nutmeg, and/or ginger for extra kick. Or you could top it with cornflakes, like the woman in the photo.

We usually mix 3 tablespoons of cereal to about 6 tablespoons of coconut milk (or whatever milk floats your digestive boat). It’s surprisingly filling for such a small amount!

The cereal really soaks up liquid, so letting it sit (5 minutes?) while you do other things is a good idea. Enjoy!
